A Final Tucson Shoot…
Just before leaving Tucson I got together with Dave to do a few photographs for a worship project he is working on. You may remember Dave and Juju from their beautiful wedding back in September. This was my last shoot before leaving Tucson.

The Scott Family
The Scotts are a frequent, and always welcome, sight around here. Just before leaving Tucson they had me do some updated family photos for their one year anniversary. We always have such a good time and this was no exception (Thank you for being such good friends).

Until next time,
Robert
Wolters Family
I originally photographed the Wolters family about a year-and-a-half ago. George contacted me again this past December to do another shoot with him and his two sons. It isn’t very often that their family is together, so this was a special time for George. While I was there I also captured a few pictures of George and his wife.

Martinez Family Pictures
I originally met the Martinez family back in August when I did their son Nick’s senior pictures. I loved working with them then and was excited about the opportunity to do their family portraits. We went down along the river in Golden and caught some beautiful fall colors and weather, what a great time!
As I am sure you have noticed; it has been a couple months since my last update. I have a lot of updating to do and some really big news to share. Be looking for quite a few updates in the near future.
Thanks, as always, for looking!

Joel: Epic Senior Pictures
A little random, a little serious, and a lot of fun. These are a couple words I would use to describe both Joel and his senior shoot. I don’t know anyone else quite like him; and I think that is what makes him so cool. We went up Mount Lemmon to play in the woods a little bit; and then came back down to Windy Point for Sunset. Congratulations to Joel and all of the class of 2010

Witt Family Pictures – Agua Caliente Park – Tucson
A week ago Monday I went over to Agua Caliente Park with the Witt family to do some family pictures. Ague Caliente Park is one of the few places in Tucson with water and it makes for a beautiful backdrop. Unfortunately, since I was there on Monday, I found out that you are supposed to have a special permit to do any kind of professional photography. Now I know.
I was a little concerned going in that photographing a family of 11 could be a major headache; the Witt’s however made it as easy on me as I hopefully did on them. They were such a blessing to work with (Thank you).

Krissi Marie – Fashion Shoot
Friday night I met up with Krissi over at Gates Pass for a modeling shoot. Shoot aside; it was just an amazingly beautiful evening. Some light clouds, a soft breeze, and the peaceful sound of crickets chirping away.
Krissi has been modeling for over a year and is currently working on building a fashion portfolio; she was great to work with. I always enjoy doing portfolio shoots as they really allow both parties to be creative and have fun; but at the same time provide for a great learning experience. You can check out Krissi’s Modeling page here.
Thank you to my buddy Derrick for being a great assistant.

Bella Vita Salon
I had the privilege of meeting and photographing the crew over at Bella Vita Salon this past Thursday. Everyone was very nice and a blast to work with. Sometime in the near future they should be getting a website online; until then though, you should check them out in person!

December Portraits
Green grass, leafy trees, waterfalls… Not typically what comes to mind when you think December or Arizona. We went up to a park in Anthem to do some family pictures and it was quite the amazing park (including the biggest play structure you have ever seen) I hope you all had a happy new year. Blessings for 2010.

Cesar and Lindsey: Post Wedding Portraits
Cesar and Lindsey had a beautiful wedding this past April up at the Vistoso Golf Club. Their wedding happened to be one of the few weddings I have ever been to as just a guest. They unfortunately didn’t get any really nice portraits from their wedding and decided to have me do some this past Sunday. It turned out to be the perfect morning for portraits. We started part way up Redington Pass Road; and then drove down to Agua Caliente Park. Both are beautiful locations for pictures.
Crossing Sarnoff Promo Shoot
Last night I had a great photoshoot with local band Crossing Sarnoff. We shot down by the new 4th Ave. Underpass (Which makes for a great location) as well as at Club Congress. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get a lot in at the club before they started setting up for a show that night and kicked us out. The guys were a lot of fun to work with and hopefully we will get the opportunity to do it again in the future. Be sure to check out their website as well as their official Myspace page. Also; if you live in Tucso, don’t miss their December 4th show at Club Congress!

Wolters Family Pictures
Mom; I don’t know her real name but everyone called her mom; had a bithday this weekend and all the kid’s flew into town to celebrate with her. As a surprise they wanted to do some family pictures while everyone was there. What a great gift! We went up to the Westin La Paloma Resort for the pictures and had a good time. Great family to work with; and a beautiful location for pictures.

Elissa: Senior Portraits
These images are nothing “new” or “cutting edge”, but they do have this simple beauty that goes beyond words.
"Night Watch"
My friend Chris and I get together now and then for the sole purpose and creating some crazy pictures. These are the result of out Thursday night adventure in the dark. It’s a challenge shooting a black subject in the dark; from focusing the composition; a little ambient light would go a long way. That is partially why I do this though, besides getting the creative juices flowing and having a good time, to learn.

Terra and Darren: Official Engagement Pictures
A few months back I did some portraits of Terra and Darren up by the Salt River Canyon. Although they weren’t engaged then, they are officially engaged now! I love just sitting and watching them interact; they always seem to have a great time together no matter what they are doing. That is something special you don’t see in every couple. I am really looking forward to their wedding in November as I know it is going to be something special.
Jimmy and Sarah
They say photographing your family is the hardest thing to do; when it comes to my dad it is so true, I would rather pull teeth. My brother and sister-in-law on the other hand were great to work with. Everything was still amazing green their for being the middle of July; felt a lot like spring.
Mr. Scott: Hero in Training
What do you get when you mix a little inspiration, a couple friends and a camera? Really cool pictures! Down off of 6th St. and 9th Ave is this really old brick building that makes for a great location to shoot. All these pictures were shot within 30 minutes of the sunset; which in my opinion is the best time to shoot. Thanks for looking!

Joel and the Sick Photographer
I have been sick since Tuesday morning with temperatures as high as 103.4; thankfully I was doing fairly yesterday afternoon and was able to go out and get this shoot done. We went down to 4th Ave as it is something that really fits Joel’s personality. Neat place but difficult to photograph. The street runs north and south; and everything you have to work with is street side. Despite everything the pictures came out great. Today I am back at home working on getting better.
Thanks for Looking,
Robert
Lizzy
Spring in Tucson… enjoy it while it’s here. I was downtown Saturday afternoon doing some senior photos for Lizzy and we had a great time. She claims she doesn’t like having pictures taken; but you would never know by looking at the photographs.

Tim Sipe
There is something to be said about procrastinating on your senior pictures; I am not sure what it is but I know I did the same thing. Part of it is that I hate pictures of myself; perhaps that is why I chose to be behind the camera. This past Wednesday we did some pictures down of the University of Arizona. Tim loves it down there and is hoping to be a student there next year so I felt it was a fitting location. On top of everything; the weather was perfect; 78* and partly cloudy

The Importance of Photography
It’s times like these, where everyone from your local plumber that has been in business for 80 years to your major retail chains are going under, that make you sit and ask the question; “why do I do what I do?” Where does a photographer fit in to the equation when even common necessitates, such as plumbing, are being put on the back burner? Quiet often hiring a photographer ranks up their with a day at the spa or a night at the symphony; luxuries that aren’t seen as necessary. Ironically though, at the end of life, its often the photographs and accompanying memories that have the most meaning. I have heard so many times that when your house catches on fire the first thing you go for, besides family and pets, are the family photographs. They are a piece of the family, a moment, a memory. They are a record of where you came from, where you have been and perhaps, where you are going.
A picture is worth a thousand words; and no matter how many times you try to explain the moment it will never have the impact that it does in a single, priceless, photograph. That is why I do what I do.

Terra and Darren
Whats worth getting up at 6:00am for? A drive across the state and a day with a couple of wonderfully fun people. Although they are not engaged, yet, you can tell by the way they are together that there is a special connection. These photographs were taken at a pull-out near the Salt River Canyon. If you haven’t been there, is is well worth the trip from Tucson. As always; thank you for looking!

A Weekend Away
This past weekend was spent out in the Santa Rita foothills with a couple of good friends. I didn’t really realize how much I needed to get out and have a change of pace until I was there; and now that I am home I find I want to go back. Life is so much simpler when you don’t have paperwork, filing, investments, taxes, etc. Despite being out in the beautiful wilderness, as a portrait photographer I can’t help but photograph people. To me it adds an invaluable personal touch to the landscape; the “I could be there” feeling. Thanks for looking!

I love large images, and this is definitely one of those images that demands to be big. The blog does not do it justice.

Behind the Scenes
Being a photographer; I like to stay behind the lens. The pictures always seem to end up more flattering that way! That being said, take note; this is one of the rare moments where you will see me in a photograph!
